Microsoft AI Handbook

A guide to the world of artificial intelligence, where and how to use it in education and how to get started with AI

Most of you have probably already encountered AI, tried it, and some of you may use it regularly because it speeds up and saves you work. But you may not fully imagine all the possibilities of today’s AI, where it could be used in the university, how to approach it properly, where to start, what to look out for, etc.

For you, managers, heads of IT departments, but also educators or administrators interested in artificial intelligence, the Microsoft Education AI Toolkit could be a very useful tool.  JIt is a roughly 130-page book that provides relevant background knowledge, strategies and recommendations for getting started and properly embracing AI in education.

The book contains suggestions, recommendations and information you can use to start implementing AI tools in your organization. You will find a range of practical examples and links to other information resources and training. The book is divided into the following sections:

  • Overview: an overview of the basics of generative artificial intelligence, an explanation of Microsoft’s commitment to secure and inclusive tools, and an introduction to Copilot tools and how they can be used for different audiences on campus – executives, IT leaders, educators, students.
  • Plan: responsible use of AI, creating policies for the use of AI on campus, securely managing and working with source data, tips for involving the wider community in your AI plans.
